Community Solidarity
Dear Community,
The U.S. Federal Government is taking a series of rapid, sweeping actions that have sown chaos and fear in communities nationwide. Policies targeting immigrants, LGBTQIA+ individuals—especially trans people—and low-income communities are being implemented so quickly that it feels impossible to keep up. In particular, executive orders aimed at stripping trans people of legal recognition and restricting gender-affirming care for trans youth fuel hatred and division, embedding discrimination into the very institutions meant to serve and protect us.
In these challenging times, community solidarity is more essential than ever. The LGBT Center of Raleigh remains unwavering in its commitment to serving North Carolina’s LGBTQIA+ community. As federal policies and legislation shift at a relentless pace, we are carefully assessing their impact on the communities we support. We will continue working alongside community members, educators, healthcare providers, legal advocates, and others to find ways to provide care, support, and protection during this critical moment.
We will continue to stand with you, uplift your voices, and care for those who need it most. In the days ahead, the LGBT Center of Raleigh will share updates and concrete actions as more information becomes available. For now, take care of yourselves and each other, and let the light of our community shine brightly—showing the world the beauty, strength, and value that each of us brings.
In solidarity,
LGBT Center of Raleigh Staff & Board of Trustees
